The CreatedHere Submission Process

Who

Anyone may submit – all mediums, genders, cultures, identities are welcome. Writers from other provinces are welcome if there is a New Brunswick connection in the story. We are open to submissions in English and French, and other languages will be considered if translation is provided by the contributor. If you are not a writer, you can recommend stories or artists to be covered by our staff writers. Less experienced writers are encouraged to apply, and are often selected to contribute to our online platform while receiving writing mentorship.

What

Before you pitch your story, please be sure that it has a strong connection to fine craft, visual art, or design in New Brunswick. If you are submitting for a print edition of CreatedHere, please check that it fits with the current theme. If you have a great idea that does not fit, we would be happy to receive it at any time and will consider it for our online platform or a later issue.

When

Each print issue has a submission deadline. Selected contributors must be able to provide a draft within three weeks of receiving confirmation of inclusion, and they must be willing to work with an editor to finalize their articles for print. Up to 10 writers will be selected for each of our print issues and they will each receive an $80 honorarium upon completion and a copy of the magazine at the launch event.

Where

Send your pitch and any and all questions to: info@createdhere.ca

How

Keep pitches below 250 words, and please do not send completed articles. Instead, include the following in the body of your email:

  • a brief summary of your concept and how it fits with the theme,

  • the reason you are the right person to write this article,

  • the expected word count, and

  • 1-2 sample images attached.

Above all, we want to feature amazing fine craft, art and design – and the fascinating people who create it. We will not refuse a pitch based on image quality alone as we may be able to offer photography services if we love your story and the work. If you are not able to provide great images, include information about what we could photograph if we were to pay you a visit.
